The series <\/span>Pixel approaches the pixel as a basic unit of contemporary perception: the atom of the screen age. In digital culture, images are built from units of light, color, and information. Araquistain translates that logic to a tactile surface made from fragments of second-hand stuffed animals, replacing the immaterial glow of the screen with the physical density of plush fabric.<\/span><\/p>\n

This shift generates a tension between digital color and material color, between light and fiber, between image and object. What at first glance appears to be a pixelated field becomes, upon close inspection, a surface of recovered skins, textures, and residues. The pixel ceases to be merely a unit of visual information to become a fragment of matter laden with affective, industrial, and symbolic histories.<\/span><\/p>\n
