Mei Efe (Madrid, 1980) is a visual artist and communications professional. Her practice encompasses photography, collage, and video, with a focus on fragmentation and proximity as formal strategies.
She works with close-ups and frames that eliminate context, shifting the focus toward detail as an autonomous unit. The body and objects do not function as narrative elements, but rather as surfaces of tension; the image focuses on matter, and the fragment asserts itself as a field in its own right. Within this framework, the hand emerges as a recurring motif: isolated and stripped of context, it becomes an autonomous expressive space capable of condensing gesture, restraint, and intensity.
At the same time, he has built his professional career in the audiovisual field, working at various communications agencies as the head of video departments, where he has led projects related to imagery and visual storytelling.
In 2015, he published his work in several European journals, including the Italian oneVisions. In 2016, he participated in several group exhibitions with his projects. Natura, Levitate y Anxiety. His illustrations have been shared on various digital platforms linked to the creative sector. In 2023, he created the cover for the book Tell me with your fingers with photography Blind Hands.
Currently, I am developing a new line of work in collage built from fragments of noise and distortion. The series explores memory as unstable matter, using visual scraps to question the transformation of recollection and its ambiguity between lived experience and reconstruction.
