Pause (2009)

In a transit territory, conceived for circulation and momentary stopping, the gaze shifts toward that which was not meant to be seen. A gas station in the middle of nowhere: a place where no one stays, where everything happens just enough before moving on. In that context, a trapped bag becomes the center of the action. Its movement, activated by the wind, responds not to an intention but to an invisible choreography, in a minimal, repetitive, almost hypnotic dance. A fragile gesture that insists, that persists, that occupies time without advancing toward any resolution. Against the functional logic of the environment, designed for speed, consumption, and transit, this movement introduces an unexpected pause. The piece thus positions itself on the borderline between the insignificant and the essential, revealing how even in the most utilitarian spaces a form of beauty can emerge. A still life in which, nevertheless, something continues to happen: moments where the minimal becomes active and the invisible becomes perceptible.
