The practice of Marta Gálvez-Cañero Arrazola unfolds as an intimate territory of exploration, where matter—the paper, the image, and the fragment—becomes thought in motion. Her work starts from a silent, almost ritual gesture: cutting, arranging, hiding, and revealing; actions that function as open rules within a process in which each decision activates new formal possibilities. A process that, as the artist herself describes it, progresses «stumbleingly, palm by palm,» in constant dialogue with the void and with an imagination that winds around her hands.
Marta Gálvez-Cañero has developed her own visual language in which collage is not only a technique but also a way of thinking and an area of experimentation. Her compositions combine found images, fragmented bodies, and symbolic elements that, when recombined, generate scenarios suspended between the dreamlike and the archetypal. Each encounter between forms from different worlds transforms their original meaning and opens the possibility of a new creative space, where the relationships between the elements give rise to unexpected narratives.
In the works presented here, forms are emancipated: they grow, contract, rotate, fracture and stretch like small contortionist figures in an unstable balance. The bodies, sometimes incomplete and other times hybrid, become improbable architectures supported by delicate assemblies that defy spatial logic.
Mysterious gardens, altars and suspended scenes emerge, where the everyday transforms into a narrative and each new relationship between the forms creates an open territory, always ready to be inhabited by the imagination.
In this universe, recurring signs also appear that form an imaginary world deeply linked to dreams and the unconscious: lights that seem to guide or reveal, figures suspended in scenes devoid of gravity, and bodies and objects that float in impossible equilibriums. These elements not only reinforce the dreamlike dimension of his work, but also allow the images to free themselves from physical logic to establish relationships guided by intuition, desire, and memory.
The artist explores her memory as an active archive, recovering forgotten images, signs, and objects that, in their new arrangements, demand a different reading. Coming from different times, contexts, and meanings, these fragments establish new relationships with one another and construct an open narrative, where displacement and transformation generate new possibilities of meaning.

For more than two decades, Marta Gálvez-Cañero Arrazola has been developing an artistic practice focused on painting and collage as tools for visual research.
Her work explores the construction of space through the superposition, displacement, and recomposition of forms, creating compositions that oscillate between abstraction and the evocation of interior landscapes.
Between 2010 and 2017, he combined his artistic practice with teaching drawing, painting, collage, and other techniques of the visual arts, contributing to the training of emerging artists.
