Buit is part of one of the most elementary geometric forms, the circle, repeated to establish a seemingly stable visual order. As the viewer's gaze travels across the composition, this initial certainty gradually dissolves. Through a precise articulation of geometry, color, light, and shadow, the painting generates optical shifts in which the forms appear to emerge, recede, or occupy different spatial planes.

Although the surface remains completely flat, the sensation of depth is continually reconstructed by the observer. Space, therefore, is not physically represented, but is created through perception, making the work exist simultaneously as an object and as a visual experience.

With Buit, Martínez Vallés continues to explore the mechanisms by which we interpret visual information, inviting the viewer to become an active participant in the construction of the image.
