JESSICA POLAR
Jessica Polar (Jessica López, Tenerife, 1984) is an Art Buyer, Photo Editor, and analogue photographer. She studied Journalism in Madrid and Photo Editing at the Ostkreuz School of Photography in Berlin, and has also pursued curatorial studies at NODE Center. Her practice operates at the intersection of visual narrative, image production, and curatorial thinking, with a focus on culture, music, queer communities, and forms of human connection.
Her work moves fluidly between roles—mediating, shaping, and producing images—while maintaining a sustained interest in storytelling as both structure and gesture. Engaging with photography as a relational medium, Polar’s approach foregrounds collaboration, intimacy, and the construction of visual meaning within contemporary cultural contexts.
She was Senior Art Buyer at Polaroid’s creative studio for over a decade in Berlin and Amsterdam, where she led global collaborations with artists, fostered emerging talent, and developed campaigns grounded in narrative-driven strategies. Prior to this, she worked as a photo editor for Rolling Stone, VICE, and Musikexpress.
WORK
She has developed projects for Magnum Photos, Polaroid, and the Keith Haring and Basquiat Foundations.
Currently based in Madrid, she collaborates with brands, agencies, and creatives to transform concepts into cohesive visual proposals, while continuing to expand her personal photographic practice.
