SARA NAVARRO

Sara Navarro (Madrid, 1981) is a photographer and visual artist. She began her career in 2004 within the field of music and cultural photography, portraying national and international artists and collaborating with institutions such as Matadero Madrid, CentroCentro, and La Casa Encendida, as well as festivals including FIB (Festival Internacional de Benicàssim). In 2010, she was awarded at the Pop-Eye Awards for Music and Independent Creation in the Photography category alongside Ouka Leele.

In recent years, her practice has shifted toward a more intimate and conceptual inquiry into nature, understood as an artwork in itself. She approaches matter as an archive of time, engaging with geological formations, surfaces, textures, and cartographies, as well as with images of the cosmos. The interplay between analogue and digital processes, and the hybridization of the synthetic and the natural, form part of her current lines of research.

WORK

Through a sustained and non-interventionist gaze, Sara’s work treats light as a structural element that bridges scales: geology as compressed time, and the universe as expanded time. Her images do not depict landscape as mere backdrop; they engage it as process, memory, and presence, inviting a contemplative, even sacred, encounter in which nature, perception, and time intertwine within a contemporary sensibility.
